Is there a word called ‘Daangadi’ in Kannada dictionary? No. There is a ‘Daangudi’ (pouncing) word in Kannada. Writer Siddaram Karnik has coined this word and also accepts that the word is not found in dictionary. However there is a place in this name near Orissa and Dangadi is a plant – the consumption of it would avoid hair growth says the discovery of Siddaram Karnik. It is for his story the film is made. He has acted in the role of Dr BR Ambedkar in the film ‘Rama Bai’ Kannada film. He is also appearing in a role in ‘Daangadi’.


Surendra Hugar an advocate by profession, lecturer in the past after hearing about the book of Siddaram Karnik has decided to invest on the film. A book has limited reach. So we have taken up a film based on the subject he says.


The film is having interesting contents. There is no song, action, romance but ‘Navarasas’ are very much prevalent. The film is going on floor on Amavasye day on August 2. The shoot begins in Belgaum. In a bus the only two permanent persons are driver and conductor. The cinema has some close reality contents. The film has mix of past and present.


Kanaka Lakshmi from Sirsi a child actor is turning heroine from this film. Sanjeev and Jayasurya are in the lead roles.
